The Cascade Head Biosphere Reserve is doing a Bio-Blitz, which is an intensive, targeted survey of a geographic area with the goal of identifying all of the species that can be found in that area at one time. There's training information on the website, and an app to download to your phone. Then you head out to your favorite beach area, preferably at low tide, and photograph what you see. It's also a great way to identify the creatures you see but don't know what they are.
If you'd like to participate, you can find all the information at https://www.cascadehead.org/events/bio-blitz-iv-2021.
